What Do You Actually Need in an Airsoft Loadout?

It is easy to turn a simple loadout into a shopping list. Start with the kit that keeps you safe, comfortable and playing, then add the extras later.

1. Eye and face protection

This comes first. Use suitable protection that meets the requirements of the site you play at, fits properly and stays comfortable for a full game day.

2. A reliable primary

You do not need the most expensive RIF on the field. A dependable primary that suits the games you play is far more useful than chasing upgrades before you have enough time with the platform.

3. Magazines and a way to carry them

Carry enough magazines for the game format without loading yourself down unnecessarily. A simple chest rig, belt setup or plate carrier can all work — choose what is comfortable and practical for you.

4. Suitable clothing and footwear

Good footwear matters. Choose clothing for the weather and terrain, and remember that comfort and movement are more important than matching a particular look.

5. Power, ammo and basic spares

Bring the batteries or gas your setup needs, suitable BBs and simple essentials such as a speedloader. A small bag of useful spares can save a game day without turning your kit bag into a workshop.

6. Extras come afterwards

Optics, sidearms, radios, helmet setups and other accessories can all be useful, but they are not automatically essential. Play first and let your experience tell you what would genuinely improve your setup.

Best loadout rule: carry what helps you play comfortably and reliably. If an item spends every game getting in the way, you probably do not need it.
